One of the many aspects of making photographs is using colour as a main theme. In order to illustrate your idea, feelings or even observe the world around you is consider how the colour can affect your style. As photographers, some of us are very often absorbed by various rules of photography, such as composition. What would happen if we care less? What would happen if we care more about what is around us without paying too much attention to how we frame these shots? In A Concise History of Photography by Helmut Gernsheim I found interesting debates about the use of colour, he states there 'Control of colour, when used with discretion, can also add greatly to the aesthetic pleasure of a picture'. Looking for interesting combinations of colour can be quite challenging. Can a single colour convey more than a full range of colours?
I have asked teachers at KJ to capture COLOUR during summer holidays. Out of all submitted photographs these were three favourite chosen by our jury. The colour contrast in one and colour harmony in another have caught our eyes straight away.
Thank you to everyone submitting their beautiful photographs.
