Seeing work of art first hand is priceless. The experience of being absorbed by it takes a lot of energy – that’s why most of our students were asleep on the way back, I guess. Looking at art is not easy. It all depends on our personal and social experiences. The way you react to the work of art will depend on your age, gender, values and beliefs. Certainly all of us remember something different from this visit. Those diverse experiences are tailored and serve the purpose to exchange our feelings, thoughts and views.
One of the art works at Tate Modern in London that started the conversation about the art was the white Sainsbury’s receipt.
‘Why is this art?’, I often heard on that day.
